The most expensive UK destinations for the Easter school holidays

St Andrews is the priciest destination in the UK for accommodation during the Easter school holidays, a research report by Cheaprooms.co.uk has revealed.

The survey compared hotel rates across the UK for the period 29 March – 12 April 2024. For each destination, the average rate for the cheapest available double room was calculated. Only well-located hotels or guest houses rated at least 3 stars were considered.

St Andrews, a seaside town northeast of Edinburgh on Scotland’s east coast, leads the rankings with an average rate of £188 per night. The Isle of Skye, another Scottish destination, ranks 2nd most expensive with an average rate of £179 per night.

The market town of Stamford in Lincolnshire completes the podium with a nightly rate of £146 for the least expensive room. Padstow and St Ives, two destinations in the county of Cornwall, follow on as the 4th and 5th most expensive.

Llanberis, located within the Snowdonia National Park, is the priciest destination in Wales with an average of £115 per night. Meanwhile, the seaside resort town of Portrush is the most expensive destination in Northern Ireland, at £114 per night.

The table below shows the 20 most expensive UK destinations for the 2024 Easter holidays. The prices shown reflect the average daily rate for each destination's cheapest available double room in a hotel or guest house rated at least 3 stars, for the period spanning 29 March -12 April 2024.
