The Most Expensive Seaside Resorts in the UK

August 2nd, 2016

The town of St Ives in Cornwall has been named the most expensive seaside resort in the United Kingdom. This is according to a new survey by Cheaprooms.co.uk, which compared lodging rates across 30 popular coastal areas.

To produce the results, the average prices for the most affordable available double room in a hotel or guest house during August were considered. Only residences that are within easy reach of a beach and have at least 3 stars were taken into account.

Top of the rankings is St Ives, with an average rate of £164 per night. Second on the list is Oban (£132), located on the west coast of Scotland, while Poole (£128), nestled on the south coast of England, comes in third.

At the opposite end of the spectrum, Blackpool lays claim to being the cheapest UK resort, with average rates of just £42 per night. Also affordable are the Welsh resorts of Swansea (£56) and Llandudno (£52).
