York: Aesthetica Short Film Festival

|

The historic city of York in North Yorkshire will take centre stage this November when it hosts the 5th edition of the BAFTA Qualifying Aesthetica Short Film Festival, celebrating independent film-making from around the globe.

Taking place from 5th to 8th November in Aesthetica Short Film Festival, including cinemas, museums, galleries and theatres, the festival will offer a rich and diverse programme comprising special screenings, industry events and networking opportunities.

This year’s line-up features over 300 short films from the global film community, spanning genres such as advertising, animation, artists’ film, comedy, dance, documentary, drama, experimental, fashion, music video and thriller.

Furthermore, there will also be a series of masterclasses and workshops featuring leading industry figures, plus evening events, an awards ceremony, a special screening and panel discussion with previous winners.

Organisations in attendance will include Creative England, Creative Scotland and London Short Film Festival. Throughout the festival, Creative England will be offering visitors a chance to speak to their Talent Development team.

The Aesthetica Short Film Festival is hosted and supported by Aesthetica, an international art and culture magazine, founded in 2002. Last year the festival was named ‘Festival of the Year’ by York Press.

Visitors to York for the 2015 Aesthetica Short Film Festival will discover one of the great cities of the medieval world. Home to a stunning Gothic church, it is a veritable treasure trove of historical and cultural landmarks, including an array of museums and galleries.

The city is also small enough to traverse on foot, meaning that all of the venues taking part in the Aesthetica Short Film Festival are reachable without the need for a car or public transport.

Top Tip: For festival visitors with time to spare, we recommend taking a leisurely walk around York’s beautifully preserved City Walls. At 3.4 kilometres long, the walls are considered by many to be the finest and most complete in the United Kingdom. The completion of the entire circuit will take approximately 2 hours.

Pricing for the four-day Aesthetica Short Film Festival is as follows:
• Unlimited Four Day Screening Pass £30 (concessions available)
• One Day Screening Pass £15 (concessions available)
• Single Screening Ticket £5 (concessions available)
• Masterclasses £8.50
