The Most Expensive New Year's Eve Destinations in the UK

December 27, 2016

The city of Liverpool is the most expensive place in England for an overnight stay on New Year’s Eve this year, a new survey has revealed.

According to the survey by Cheaprooms.co.uk, the city in north west England, famous as the birthplace of The Beatles, is the priciest place to find a hotel room, with average rates of £219 for the cheapest available double room.

The survey compared the cost of accommodation in 20 cities popular with New Year’s Eve revellers, for the night of 31 December 2016, with only centrally located hotels rated at least three stars considered.

Elsewhere, across the entire UK, beating Liverpool into top spot is Edinburgh, where revellers seeking to experience the Scottish capital’s famous Hogmanay celebrations will need to dig deep and find over £300 for a double room. Commenting further on the survey, Paul Joseph added that Edinburgh remains the only city of those surveyed to have all but sold out of hotel availability (at time of writing).
