Dublin Raises Its Hotel Rates Significantly for St. Patrick's Day
March 13, 2015
The luck of the Irish is not on celebrators’ side if they have waited until the last minute to book a St. Patrick’s Day hotel room in Dublin. Ireland’s capital is charging sharply elevated prices for remaining available hotel rooms on March 17, a new survey from Cheaprooms.co.uk has revealed.
At this eleventh hour, approximately three in 10 centre city Dublin hotels are listing vacancies for St. Patrick’s Day. Securing one, however, is going to cost guests a substantially more amount of green. Averagely speaking, those accommodations with available rooms are jacking up their rates 154% over their typical prices. And some are gouging St. Patty’s Day revellers significantly more.
The Maldron Hotel Parnell Square serves as a good case in point. A three-star hotel, this establishment’s coveted locale within a two-minute stroll of the popular O'Connell Street, the Maldron Hotel Parnell Square is charging upwards of 400% more than it usually does this March 17. A double room over the holiday will cost guests Euro 359. The honour of the biggest price elevator, though, goes to the Paramount Hotel. This boutique hotel in the Temple Bar district of Dublin, has jacked up its rates more than 600% over its typical pricing. That means guests staying there on St. Patrick’s Day can expect to be charged Euro 500 for a twin room.
For the cheapest available double room, St. Patty’s celebrators will currently have to spend around Euro 150, which will get them lodging in a budget guesthouse. For a more comfortable place to stay, they will have to spend at least Euro 200. Dublin visitors who are planning to stay over the weekend for the full four-day St. Patrick’s Day event, however, can find a comfortable double room for around Euro 120 per night.
The table that follows lists the 10 hotels in central Dublin with the highest price hikes for this St. Patrick's Day, March 17, 2015. Regular rates reflect the price for the same room one week later. The hotel rates shown were established on March 10, 2015 via the leading hotel booking websites.
