Berlin Hotel Prices shoot up for UEFA Champions League Final
May 27, 2015
Football fans visiting Berlin for the final of the UEFA Champions League next month are being hit by a major hike in hotel prices in the German capital. According to a survey by Cheaprooms.co.uk, supporters attending the high-profile match between Juventus and Barcelona face unprecedented price increases on June 6th, when the final takes place at the Olympiastadion in the city’s western suburbs.
The survey highlights the 15% of hotels in Berlin currently offering availability for the day of
the final, which are showing an average rate increase of a staggering 267%, with some
pushing their prices substantially higher.
According to the survey, the cheapest current available rate for a double room in Berlin on the day of the match is €250 euros. This gets you what is normally considered a budget hotel in the district of Charlottenburg, some 5km from the stadium. For a higher standard of hotel of at least 3 stars located in the central district of Mitte, visitors would have to spend closer to €400 euros.
The following table shows the Berlin hotels with the biggest rate increases for the day of the Champions League Final on June 6th. Regular prices reflect rates for the same room one week later (June 13). All rates were established on May 25th following analysis of leading hotel booking websites.
