Festival Preview: Love Saves The Day

|

On the cultural landscape, this month also heralds the start of the summer festival calendar, with late May seeing several renowned events taking place across the country, each with their own distinctive theme.

One of the most popular is Love Saves The Day, an epic music festival that takes place in Bristol’s Eastville Park over a full weekend at the end of May. Since its inaugural year Park in 2012, the festival has – quite literally – doubled in size, starting as a humble one-day event in Castle Park before moving to the new venue, where it attracts over 5,000 revellers across the two days.

The masterminds behind the event are Team Love, a group of Bristol promoters and event organisers who run club nights throughout the year as well as heading up their own pub/club venue in the city. Their mission statement for Love Saves The Day includes the pledge to “combine the excitement of a city-centre event with the escapism and adventure of a weekend festival deep in the sticks”.

To help achieve this ambition, they collaborated with a host of Bristol institutions including In:Motion, Who Cares, Crack Magazine and Futureboogie, all presenting their own stages -and the result is spectacular.

Primarily based around DJs and Dance and featuring a grand total of six stages, the festival draws many of the original UK pioneers from these genres who rub shoulders with up and coming stars. It all contributes to an eclectic blend that encompasses and embraces everything from the cool Urban through to Beats and Bounce.

So whether you’re seeking a dash of nostalgia or the inside track on the country’s best emerging talents, there’ll be something for everyone at Love Saves The Day as it gears up for its latest edition.

Among the stand-out names set to appear for 2016 are headliners Everything Everything, Hot Chip and Dizzee Rascal, plus Katy B, who will be performing new material from her forthcoming album “Honey”, London grime star Giggs, and UK production duo Snakehips.

Other artists set to grace the festival stage include American hip hop producer Just Blaze, London Grime MC CASisDEAD, BBC Radio 1 DJ Benji B, General Levy, Kiko Bun, Nadia Rose, Masterstepz, Shingai and Hutch.
